Recognising how what we say and how we say it can influence how students respond and behave. We will consider everyday interactions with students and recognise how we can calm challenging situations down and enhance relationships at the same time.

- Session 1: Introduction to Autism
Introduction to what Autism is and how it impacts on learning and relationships.
We will consider recognised strategies to support students with Autism and those working with them in the school setting.

Consider a deeper understanding of Autism and it’s impact on learning and develop recognised, individual strategies for students and staff working them.
We will look at how the brain develops in relation to Autism and how this helps us to understand the world of the Autistic child.
We will consider case studies to aid in planning individual programmes for students and staff.

We will consider options for how to implement learning from the previous sessions into our school’s daily practices.

- Session 1: Understanding Attachment in Children
Learn what ‘attachment ‘means and how it impacts on child development and learning. We will consider how ‘secure attachment’ is formed and how it is vital in a child’s progression and achievement.
We will also look at how ‘insecure attachment’ develops and the barriers it can bring to a child’s learning and relationships.
